Flying with a vape? A little prep goes a long way. Use these quick, field-tested steps to keep your pods and tanks leak-free in the air and hassle-free at security.
Carry-On Only (Never in Checked Bags)
- Keep devices and batteries in your carry-on. Most airlines prohibit lithium batteries in checked luggage.
- Store spare batteries in protective cases to avoid short circuits.
Empty or Half-Fill Tanks Before You Fly
Cabin pressure changes can force e-liquid through wicks and airflow. To minimize mess:
- Pods: If possible, use a fresh, sealed pod or fill just below max.
- Tanks: Either empty completely or leave a small air gap (do not fill to the brim).
Separate & Seal Everything
- Remove the tank/pod from the device and cap the mouthpiece if you can.
- Place pods, tanks, and bottles in airtight zip bags. Double-bag if you’re packing multiple flavors.
- Wrap a small piece of paper towel around tanks inside the bag—cheap insurance if pressure wins.
Lock Down Airflow & Power
- Close adjustable airflow rings to reduce seepage.
- Power devices off. If yours has a lock, engage it (e.g., 5-click lock).
Respect Liquid Limits
Most airports apply the standard liquids rule for e-liquid (e.g., small bottles within a clear, resealable bag). Keep juice easily accessible for security screening.
After Landing: Re-Prime and Test
- Allow your device to reach room temperature.
- If you emptied the tank, re-prime the coil with a few drops and wait 5–10 minutes after filling.
- Take a few gentle primer puffs before normal use.
Know the Local Rules
Laws differ by country and region. Some destinations restrict devices, e-liquid nicotine strengths, or public use. Check regulations at your destination before you fly to avoid fines or confiscation.
